Homemade Lilac White Chocolate
Treat yourself or someone dear to a delicious treat with a spring twist!
Have you ever tried making chocolate at home? Well perhaps now is the time to be inspired to do so with our latest delicious recipe – homemade lilac white chocolate! Even if you’re not a big cooking enthusiast, you will enjoy and definitely manage this simple recipe. Homemade chocolate is a wonderful treat for yourself (self nuture matters right??) but also makes a lovely and thoughtful gift for somebody you love! So let’s get on!
How do you make chocolate from scratch?
Making chocolate at home is really really easy. All you really need is the cocoa butter ingredient which comes in large chunks and only needs to be melted over water! It doesn’t really have much taste so sugar, vanilla extract and additional ingredients will give it delicious flavour. For this purpose, I purchased beautifully looking fresh lilacs in my parent’s countryside garden. The scent is heavenly and the little blossoms are amazing for baking or for a summer salad recipe!
Plus here is one really nice benefit to this lovely project – any leftover cocoa butter can also be turned into amazing homemade cosmetics – melt the butter with oils to make a body balm, whip into a cream or add ground coffee for a body peeling!

Homemade Lilac White Chocolate
You’ll need:
- 4 tbl spoons of organic cocoa butter chunks
- 4 teaspoons of icing sugar
- 2 teaspoons of powdered full fat milk (optional)
- vanilla extract (a few drops, you can scrub inside of the vanilla pod or even use a vanilla infused baking sugar)
- a pinch of salt
- edible lilac flowers, nuts or dried fruits
- 1 teaspoon of high-quality cocoa powder (optional if you don’t want white chocolate)
- unique wrapping paper (optional but lovely especially if the homemade chocolate is intended as a thoughtful gift, can also be handmade)
Instructions
To make your own homemade lilac chocolate begin by boiling water in a large pot and find a smaller size saucepan which will fit nicely inside the pot. Put the cocoa butter into the saucepan and melt over the boiling water. Add a pinch of salt, sugar and vanilla extract, you can also add a spoon of powdered full fat milk. For brown alternative also add the teaspoon of cocoa powder. Make sure all ingredients melt and mix nicely together by whisking the mixture thoroughly.
Once the mixture is nicely combined, pour it into a chocolate form for a bar, small shaped forms for individual treats or simply on a baking paper if you prefere more rustic look. Then it’s time to add the decorative bits for additional flavour. You can use anything from edible flowers such as lilacs, roses or violets, to nuts and dried fruits. I have used fresh lilacs and also dried strawberries. When you’re happy with all the flavours, put the chocolate into the fridge for an hour to make sure it cools properly.
And voila – you’ve made your own homemade chocolate! For the final touches simply break the bar into pieces and wrap in a beautiful paper or tie with a piece of twine!
