Toppers are an evergreen craft
I have been making paper toppers randomly throughout all of last year. Animals, balloons, little cars or simple words… They are REALLY fun for kids! You can put them on top of a breakfast or healthy snacks to make them more fun to eat. I even made a little theatre once with several little stick puppets. Not only kids like to laugh and play lol! Creativity is for everyone and it’s so relaxing! Now on with the toppers!

You’ll need:
- FREE Valentines Day DIY Toppers Template printable
- heavier weight coloured paper (approx. 180gsm) - also called construction paper
- skewers
- scissors
- soft pencil
- paper glue
Instructions
Print out the toppers template printable to cut the pieces out. One option is to print them directly onto the coloured construction paper. However, if your printer is like mine, the paper feeder won’t do too well with thicker paper sheets. The other way is to print the templates onto a regular white printing paper sheet, cut them out and trace onto the colored paper. This is what I did and it worked perfectly fine!
After you’ve cut the individual pieces out, add some detailing as shown on the images. It is easy to have everything prepared digitally but I like to leave some room for natural drawing. It just gives the result more personal, organic feel. Add some hand-drawn marks or use the papercut collage technique. When your toppers are finished, use paper glue to attach each to a skewer.
