Easy Father’s Day Gift Wrap
Make your own beautiful wrapping paper
Father’s Day is nearly here - why not add a final crafted touch with a habdmade gift wrap? Make the special present even more thoughtful with this easy DIY project. It’s convenient to put the gift in a gift bag or to wrap it in the first wrapping paper available. However, the wrapping can become a beautiful stylish feature of any gift, almost like a present of it’s own! I realized this after trying the japanese furoshiki wrapping and have been making more effort ever since. Artisan wrapping is easy and looks amazing!
Designs for Father’s Day
There are many ways to design a wrapping paper for any kind of gift. However, for the Father’s Day I chose something more sophisticated and suitable for ellegant men. Great pattern would be lines, squares, large polka dots and of course text. You can also try more complex styles like the herringbone or a plain wrap finished with simple twine and a dark seal wax. Take half of a potatoe to carve a simple design (for example of a tree or a leaf) and use it as a stamp. Get as creative with the motif and additional decorations as you like! Today we’ll be using a rustic style wrap, twine, ink and fresh botanicals! Simple, creative and beautiful!

Instructions
Text Wrap
To make the text wrap use a big enough piece of the rustic wrapping paper, black ink and the dip pen. Alternatively, you can use a black line pen or a black brush pen. The brush pen will allow you to play with the line thickness which is what you’ll also achieve with the dip pen. Overall it gives the text a lovely old style handmade look. White any appropriate text repeatedly on the paper. You can choose vertical or diagonal direction, both will look lovely! Write the words over and over again until you cover the entire sheet. Let the paper dry properly and wrap the gift securing the wrap with a sticky tape. For the final touch, wrap a white twine around several times in one place and tie a knot. Then place a fresh grass, branch or a leaf behind it. Done!

Shirt lines
To create the checked design use the same wrapoing paper as a base. Then take the black ink and dip pen (or the black line pen) and draw lines vertically, 1 1/2 inches apart. Don’t worry about making them geometrically straight, drawing by hand is original! Repeat the same horizontally and let dry. Wrap the present and top up with a white twine and dark button! Gorgeous!

White drops
This design is the easiest and looks amazing! Cut off big enough piece of the rustic wrapping paper to fit the gift, take the white ink and a paint brush. Then dip the paint brush into the ink to soak the end and then splash the paint across the paper by tapping the brush gently. Slowly repeat several times to cover the surface and let dry. If you don’t have a white ink, use a blob of white acrylic paint thinned with a few drops of water.
For the final touch I created a separate decorative piece with simple lines. Take the white sheet of paper and draw a 3 inch circle. To make it easier, trace something round of that size. Then use the dark ink or some acrylic/watercolour paints to draw thick regular lines. Let dry and cut the circle out. Make a couple of holes with the hole punch or scissors. Weave the twine through the holes and tie over the wrapped present. Voila - you’ve made the last Father’s Day gift wrap design!
